-Stage 5.1-
Gas Sources
I received and email recently (the second in a long line I'm sure) stating that the Exxon-Mobil monopoly needs to be broken and people need to start buying American fuels. The main problem I find with this is that in general people do not know the source of the fuel at most gas stations.
Gas companies in general import their gas from a bunch of different sources so when you go and get your gas it is not "American" or "Middle Eastern", it is a conglomeration of several countries. So by shopping "American" I guess you should go to gas stations with a fairly large percentage of American produced fuel. Several companies only refine their fuel that they receive from outside sources and several more just purchase already refined fuel. I am making the assumption (however wrong that may be I do not know) that if a Shell refinery sells the fuel that 100% of the fuel is Shell's.
But as quoted from Citgo:
"No
company sells 100% their own refined fuels as fuels are loaded and picked up at
terminal locations throughout the country and there is a certain amount of
intermingling to some extent it just cannot be guaranteed that fuel A was only
refined by refiner A."
